The 1st ICC Conference on Network Modelling and Economic Systems was held in Lisbon, October 9-11, 2008, as part of the Institute for Complexity Sciences (ICC) activities. The Institute for Complexity Sciences supports research in Complexity domains, promoting knowledge in interdisciplinary subjects.
The program committee was chaired by João Ferreira do Amaral of the Research Unit on Complexity and Economics (UECE) and Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão (ISEG) of the Technical University of Lisbon.
The topics of interest were the following:
- Socio-economic networks
- Network generation mechanisms in socio-economic models
- Evolutionary networks
- Complex systems and emergent networks
- Tools for network dynamics
- Games on Networks
The ICC-NMES conference included a Special Session on Applications: while the main part of ICC-NMES was methodologically oriented, this half-day session focused on applications to various areas of economics: primarily, the structure and formation of R&D collaboration networks are focused on, but also contributions from other areas, such as techno-economic networks, innovation networks, social capital, and finance.
